I was startled when friends started emailing me to tell me that they were listening to me on NPR’s “Here & Now” the other day. I had no idea I would be on. I had done an interview for WBUR with Meghna Chakrabarti a week or two earlier and it somehow ended up on the national show. Meghna was incredibly well-prepared and asked great questions–we had a lot of fun talking.
Here I Am on “Here & Now”

I’m so glad I heard you on “Here and Now”. Your experience at Yale in the 70s, reminded me of my experience at Princeton in the 90s.
You described the isolation of being the only woman, not part of the guy’s study groups, and said you left feeling like a failure.
I lived those words! Leaving Princeton with a Masters degree while my male cohort all went on to get their PhDs, and feeling like a failure for the next 20 years.
